This programme is an extension of ‘Imaginative Art’ from cartooning/Naïve Art. Pupils were introduced to background of Cubism with work by great masters like Pablo Picasso and Georges Braque. They then dissect and tranform their self-portraits in Cubist style using Collage mixed media.

This course tapped on pupils’ prior knowledge in Cartoon doodling where Naïve Art is closely related to. They were exposed to context of Naive Art with reference to work by Henri Rousseau and Peter Smith. Their creations were then realised in Collage mixed media with them applying transformation techniques in developing their characters.

Installation - Its Our Wonderland!

Park View Primary School
Artist-in-residence Project 2010

“Wonderland” is a related theme extended from its ‘Playground’ Artist-in-school (AIS) project since 2007.
It is creative-based so that pupils can experience learning while ‘playing’ with Art, discovering wonders through the process.

Recycled materials were sourced for this project with ‘animals’ and ‘creatures’ created in paper Mache. The figurines were then  placed in muraled environment of ‘lush greenery' and 'azure blue ocean with scattered islands' as inspired from our lively natural reserves in the world.

It would be a reminder to us of our beautiful planet where all lives could thrive if we could take good care of our environment and appreciate its natural being. In facing environmental issues such as global warming, ozone depletion, weather changes, pollution, we have to reawake our young generation of the importance in caring for our environment.
